3G-SDI to fiber optic converters are suitable for high-definition reliability and high-definition performance standards in the TV industry. Our 3G-SDI to fiber converters adopt the new technology, adopt H.264 encoding, and use VIDIO SFP optical modules dedicated to high-definition SDI.

SDI fiber converters were first developed and used by customers in the radio and television industry. They were used in TV studios and the live broadcast of the Universiade. Later, they were extended to 1080P high-definition monitoring fields, which can carry reverse control data; the rate is 1.485G (also called 1.5G, corresponding to the SMPTE-292M standard, support 720P) and 2.97G (also known as 3G, corresponding to SMPTE-424M standard, support FULL HD 1080P), to ensure that there is no splash screen, black screen, and other phenomena during the transmission of high-definition images.

Next, let’s talk about the advantages of HD-SDI monitoring systems.

The difference between HD-SDI surveillance system and IP HD surveillance system:

1. Stability:

There is no compression, no delay, and no smear when the HD-SDI monitoring system is transmitted through the HD-SDI optical transceiver; the IP HD monitoring system will lose frames, skip frames, etc. during transmission, and IP transmission will appear Network congestion, etc., there will be a gap in this period of time during storage, which is not conducive to subsequent tracking inquiries.

2. Image effect:

the code stream of the HD-SDI optical transceiver reaches 1.485G/s during the transmission process, while the IP high-definition monitoring system can only reach 10M/s after being compressed during the transmission process. It can also be seen from the analysis of the image code stream HD-SDI monitoring system images are clearer, and the same high-definition monitoring images, SDI high-definition images are smaller than IP high-definition image code streams, and the same code stream HD-SDI images are clearer than IP images.

3. Versatility:

HD-SDI monitoring systems are all SDI interfaces, and SDI devices from various manufacturers are compatible; while IP HD monitoring systems all support the ONVIF protocol, they basically have their own changes, so even if the standard NVR and IPC that support the ONVIF protocol may not be able to communicate normally.

4. Security:

HD-SDI monitoring system is established through an optical fiber transmission network, which is not intruded on by the external network; an IP high-definition monitoring system is transmitted and accessed through an external network, which is vulnerable to human intrusion and has low security.

5. The convenience of installation and maintenance:

the HD-SDI monitoring system only needs to replace the corresponding equipment on the used analog line; the IP HD monitoring system needs to be re-wired; The SDI monitoring system is easy to install and maintain, while the IP HD monitoring system requires specialized technical personnel for commissioning and maintenance, and has higher requirements for maintenance operators.
