What is the function of optical mux

Optical multiplexer, many people have not heard, even the people who have heard of it also do not know what it is, in fact, optical terminal, is the optical signal transmission terminal equipment. In short, optical terminal is a signal converter, which is equipped with one at the beginning and the end. The starting end converts the electrical signal into optical signal, and the terminal converts the optical signal into the electrical signal, which is the optical terminal. So there are three parts: the starting end (optical transmitter), transmission medium, and terminal (optical receiver). However, what is the function of optical terminal to perform signal conversion so frequently?
As we all know, light travels at the fastest speed. This high-intensity transmission efficiency will ensure that we have some work effectiveness, timeliness, such as video monitoring. The ordinary signal can not carry the fast propagation of big data, and real-time monitoring video must ensure the timely and smooth picture so as to achieve high-definition. But neither camera nor computer display can directly generate or accept optical signals, so the application value of optical terminal is reflected.
It is worth mentioning that optical terminal is divided into analog optical terminal and digital optical terminal machine, which are also called video optical terminal.
Analog optical mux needs to modulate the amplitude or frequency of the signal to convert the electrical signal into optical signal. The optical signal is received at the terminal, and demodulation is needed to restore the data and image information.
Digital optical mux is to use a number like 0,1 to digitize data and images, compile them into multi-channel low-speed signals, and then convert them into optical signals. At the terminal, the optical signals are reduced to multi-channel low-speed signals, and finally converted into video, images, data, etc.
