Industrial USB to RS485 Converter Cable (6KV lightning protection)

The basic function of this device is USB to RS485 conversion with 6KV lightning protection. The device is powered through the USB port and does not require an external power source. It uses a unique no-delay automatic transmit/receive conversion technology, making it plug-and-play compatible with all software. It also features transmit/receive enable control, where it enters a high-impedance state when not transmitting data, and supports multi-point communication.

● This device emulates a standard serial port, allowing for the upgrade of existing serial peripheral devices or the addition of extra serial ports via USB.

● For enhanced performance, the hardware has built-in transmit/receive buffers, supporting communication baud rates ranging from 50bps to 2Mbps.

● The communication cable is constructed using shielded twisted pair copper wire with a cross-sectional area of at least 0.5mm. It enables a maximum communication distance of 3000 meters (4800bps), 2000 meters (9600bps), or 1000 meters (115.2Kbps).

● With a minimum of 128 network nodes and a maximum determined by the RS485 input impedance of each node, this device provides reliable network connectivity.

● It has three LED indicators for convenient status monitoring: Power (red), RS485 data receive (orange), and RS485 data transmit (green).

● The device is powered via USB, with an operating current of less than 30mA. It offers comprehensive USB interface protection with ±15kV (air discharge) and ±8kV (contact discharge) electrostatic protection, 40A (5/50ns) EFT protection, and 5A (8/20us) lightning protection.

● The RS485 interface is equipped with level-three lightning protection, conforming to the GB/T17626.5 (IEC61000-4-5) standard. It provides a short-circuit current waveform of 10/700μs and an open-circuit peak output voltage of 6KV, with a 40Ω internal resistance.

● The device includes a 5V power output terminal (with 0.5A PTC protection) that is activated when the operating current exceeds 0.7A.

● It is designed for wide temperature range applications, with an operating temperature of -40℃ to +85℃.
